implant dentures?

An implant-supported denture is a full set of replacement teeth for an arch of missing teeth, anchored to small titanium posts placed in the jawbone. The posts act as roots. Instead of resting on your gums and relying on suction or adhesive, the denture snaps or screws onto the implants and stays where it is, which is why they are the usual answer for a lower denture that keeps slipping.

There are two versions. A removable one clips onto the implants and comes out for cleaning. A fixed one is attached by the dentist, stays in, and is cleaned like natural teeth. Both are far more stable than a conventional denture, and both keep the jawbone from shrinking the way it does under a loose plate. How long does treatment take?

Every step is done fully numb, and we do not do anything in pain. Expect a few days of soreness afterward, managed with over-the-counter medicine and soft foods. Fixed or removable: which should I choose?

A removable implant denture snaps onto the implants and comes out at night for cleaning. It costs less and usually needs fewer implants. A fixed denture stays in permanently and feels the most like natural teeth, and it is the option patients most often call life-changing. How many implants will I need?

It depends on the arch, your bone, and whether the denture is fixed or removable. A full arch is typically anchored by four to six implants. The CBCT scan taken at your consultation is what settles the number.

Can my current denture be attached to implants?

Sometimes. If your existing denture is in good shape and fits well, it can often be modified to snap onto implants. If it is worn, cracked, or the teeth are badly worn down, a new denture made to fit the implants gives a far better result.

Am I too old for implants?

No. Healthy bone and general health matter far more than age. Conditions that affect healing, such as uncontrolled diabetes or smoking, are what we talk through, not your birthday.

Will I be without teeth at any point?

No. You wear a temporary or your existing denture while the implants heal, adjusted so it does not press on the surgical sites. The final denture is attached once the bone has fused to the implants.

What is bone grafting, and will I need it?

Bone shrinks after teeth are lost, sometimes past the point where an implant has enough to hold onto. A graft rebuilds that volume with bone material placed at or before implant surgery. The CBCT scan shows exactly how much bone you have, so you know before treatment starts whether grafting is part of the plan.

How long do implant dentures last?

The implants themselves can last decades with good hygiene and regular check-ups. The denture attached to them is like any set of teeth: the clips and teeth wear and get replaced over the years, which is routine maintenance rather than starting over.
