What affects the cost of composite bonding?

The short answer

Composite bonding cost reflects the number of teeth, the size and position of the repair, and the shaping needed to achieve the proposed result. A small edge repair and reshaping several front teeth are different services. Ask for a tooth-by-tooth plan rather than relying on a generic per-tooth range.

Bonding adds and shapes resin on the tooth surface. It can address selected chips or gaps without moving tooth roots, so it does not replace orthodontic treatment when tooth position or the bite is the main problem. Have the dentist explain whether adding material will create the shape you want without making the tooth appear too wide.

Before pricing cosmetic repair, establish whether the tooth is healthy or whether the chip resulted from trauma that needs further investigation. A structural repair may involve different work from a purely cosmetic adjustment. Describe any pain, previous repairs, and the event that caused the damage. Those details help the office schedule an appropriate assessment instead of assuming the simplest version of the procedure.

Request the estimated charge for the exact surfaces and teeth involved, plus any preparatory treatment. Ask how future polishing, repair, or replacement would be handled and whether the quoted service includes the final bite check. If another plan recommends veneers, compare the amount of tooth preparation and the intended appearance as well as the initial fee. Your decision should reflect the scale of the change you want and the care the finished restoration will require.
